Ruby Orgain Carey

Ruby Elise Orgain Carey, 87, passed away June 30, 2013 at her home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was born April 15, 1926 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Edward and Oneida Russell Orgain; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Edward Orgain, Jr. and Ethel Chandler Orgain; cousin, John (Jack) Perdue, III; and grandson Bradley Warren Tarkington. She is survived by twin daughters, Ellen Carey Tarkington and Elise Carey Argue (husband Jim); grandchildren Sarah Ellen Argue and Emily Argue Stotts (husband Jeff); great-granddaughter Charlotte Ruby Stotts; and soon expected great-grandson, Joshua Bradley Tarkington. She is also survived by cousins David Perdue (wife Karen) and Richard Perdue (wife Charlotte); nephew, Russell Orgain and family; and niece, Deborah Rogers. Ruby was a graduate of Rhodes College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1951 and began working at Southern Federal Savings & Loan Association (FirstSouth), where she remained until retirement in 1987 as a Senior Vice President. Ruby was a sixty-year member of Central Presbyterian Church and served as the church treasurer for twelve years. She was also active in Presbyterian Women, served as a Deacon, an Elder, and a member of the Session, taught Sunday School, and sang in the church choir. In addition to her church activities, Ruby was a former Regent of the John McAlmont/Pine Bluff chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Pilot Club, a business women's service organization. Ruby was much loved by family and friends and will be deeply missed. Memorial services are Wednesday, July 3rd, 1:30 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jim Freeman officiating, directed by Ralph Robinson & Son. A reception follows at the church.
