Hazel J. Bowerman

Hazel J. Vanhook Bowerman, 71, of Fayetteville, Ark., died June 30, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born Jan. 20, 1942, at Mudell, Ark., the daughter of Virgil "Rube" and Mary Evans Vanhook. Most of her career was in food service management and she was known as a wonderful cook with her specialty hot rolls and pies. She was a member of Christ's Lighthouse Church in Huntsville and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ted. Survivors include her loving husband, Jim Bowerman of the home, whom she married in 1966; two daughters, Kristi Bowerman Jones of Fayetteville, Ark., and Leah Phillips and husband, Charlie of Saratoga Springs, New York; one son, Kevin Bowerman and wife, Sherri and sons, D.J., Steven, Mykel and Jared of Bentonville, Ark.; two sisters, Joyce Simpson and husband, Frank of Fort Smith, Ark., and Connie Graham and husband, Tony of Prairie Grove, Ark.; a special aunt, Cora Lewis of Rogers, Ark.; the "lights of her life," her grandchildren, Ryan and Hayden Jones, Kameron and Kyleigh Bowerman and Sean, Elijah and Noah Phillips; and special brothers and sisters-in-law. The celebration of Hazel's life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Reverends Les Fletcher and Brian Bowerman officiating. Interment will be in the Marshal Cemetery at Forum under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net. Pallbearers will be Anthony Simpson, Eric Simpson, Mitch Bowerman, Jeff Bowerman, Shawn Vanhook and Scott Carlton. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Bowerman, Eddie Bowerman, Scott Bowerman, Ricky Bowerman, Dallas Bowerman, Donald Cooper, James Laningham and her grandsons.
