Bonnie Ann Childers

Bonnie Ann Childers, 78, of Bentonville passed away June 30, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. She was born on Sept. 29, 1934, to Charles and Jewyl Pulliam in Benton Harbor, Mich., the youngest of six children. A graduate of Grovertown (Indiana) High School and the University of Arkansas, she was a longtime elementary school teacher for the Gravette School district, beginning her career in the Hiwasse Elementary School and later becoming a teacher of gifted children at Gravette. After retiring from teaching in 1994, she continued to pursue her love of painting and drawing and to share her smile and contagious laughter with all. The mother of five, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Quinton. She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Neal; and her children, Joseph Childers of Riverside, Calif., Trina Matthews of Memphis, Tenn., Carla Sadler of Knoxville, Tenn., and Staci Matthews of Van Buren, Ark. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren; as well as a brother, Robert Pulliam of Walkerton, Ind.; and a sister, Dorotha Culver of Gravette. There are no public services planned. In lieu of sympathy gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Association (www.alsa.org); or the Circle of Life Hospice (http://www.nwacircleoflife.com) in her name.
