Walter G. 'Buddy' Klugh

Dr. Walter G. "Buddy" Klugh Jr. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter G. Klugh Sr.; stepmother, Dorothy Klugh; his mother, Nell Reynolds Klugh; and his sister, Eleanor Klugh Jackson. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Marie Louise Klugh; and his children, Carole Klugh Shannon (Jeff) of Fayetteville and E.G. "Bubba" Klugh (Sherrie) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Rebecca Shannon Webb (Ryan) of Maumelle, Rachel Shannon Foshe (Tony) of Fayetteville, Kendall and Kameron Klugh of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He practiced anesthesiology for 33 years at St. Joseph's in Hot Springs. During his career, he served as chief of staff, where he established St. Joseph's first recovery room, first ICU, first respiratory care department and first cardiovascular program. His love of conservation led him to a lifelong involvement in Ducks Unlimited. He served served as a board member in American DU as well as Canada and Mexico for 10-plus years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golf, flying airplanes, and especially, playing gin-rummy. The funeral was Jan. 26 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
