John Wesley Stryker

John Wesley Stryker, 72, died on January 24, 2013 at Willard Walker Hospice House surrounded by his family. Born August 31, 1940 in Clinton, Indiana to John J. and Jane S. Stryker, he grew up on a farm near Rockville, Indiana. He attended Purdue University and joined the Air Force in 1961. He completed his degree in meteorology at St. Louis University. He retired as a Captain in 1981 and then worked for the U.S. Civil Service as Chief Meteorologist of the Global Weather Center at Offutt AFB, Bellevue, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janel; a daughter and two sons: Gabrielle (Paul); Christopher, and David (Kimberly); and five grandchildren: Troy, Tess, Megan, Kelsey, and Samuel; two sisters: Ann Lester and Mary Butler. He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in 1997 where he enjoyed golfing with the Good Guys golf team, gardening, sailing his sailboat around Loch Lomond and walking his two schnauzers, Max and Zoey. He joined the Master Gardeners program and became a trainer, and later, president of the Benton County Master Gardeners group. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, AR 72714 or the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, P.O.
