William "Bill" Durning, 94, of Fayetteville died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in Fayetteville. He was born July 18, 1918, in Cass, Ark., the son of Elias Durning and Lillie Harris Durning. Bill was a respected mechanic, restoring and rebuilding Model A's and Model T's. He was also active in the Elkins Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Oleeta Durning; daughter, Kaye Spencer; four brothers, Roy, Troy, Claude and Lewis; and five sisters, Rhetha, Vera, Norma, Stella and Ruth. Survivors include a son, Jerry Durning and his wife, Shirley; and a brother, Coy Durning of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchidren, all of Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Friday at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to give many thanks to the hospice nurses and caregivers and also to Bill's many friends and family.
