Howard L. Martin

Howard L. Martin, 93, of West Fork passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Monett, Mo., the son of David L. and Luvena Taylor Martin. He served in the U.S. Army for 27 years; member of First Baptist Church in West Fork and served as a deacon; and a member of SMART. Preceded in death by his son-in-law, David. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Lohse of the home; two daughters, Janice Blackmon and husband, Virgil of West Fork and Sharon Truelove of Greenland; five grandchildren, David Blackmon and wife, Connie, John Blackmon, Cheri DeSoto and husband, Joe, Amanda Miller and husband, Andy and Dixie James; five great-grandchildren, Trusten DeSoto, Nicole DeSoto, Luke Blackmon, Hannah Blackmon and Travis Miller. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at First Baptist Church in West Fork with Pastor Jere Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at 12 p.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Beard's Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to World Changers Missions c/o of First Baptist Church in West Fork.
