Don Britting, 82, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born June 5, 1930, to Lyman and Hazel Britting in Tawas City, Mich. He was the younger of two sons. He married his beautiful bride, Elaine Robinson, in 1955. During the early years of their marriage, Don owned a heating business in Angola, N.Y., then moved to Rogers in 1972, where he found his "Beloved Valley." Don took a position as a maintenance engineer at First Brands in Rogers, where he worked until he retired. Don loved being outdoors where he enjoyed bird watching, camping and hiking. His greatest pleasure, though, came from spending time in his shop making wooden crosses that have been given away nationwide. Don enjoyed taking rough dirty wood destined for the burn pile and turning it into beautiful works of art. He said it was a beautiful picture of how our precious Lord would find and restore His chosen ones and bring out His beauty and usefulness in them. (1 Corinthians 1:28-31) Don is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; and brother, Leland. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel and William; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at New Hope Assembly of God Church in Rogers, with Pastor James Longmate and Pastor Bob Holyfield officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends and family during the hour preceding services beginning at 1 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
