Billy Don Akins

Billy Don Akins, age 66, of Altus passed away on Feb. 19, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Denison, Texas, to the late Archie and Marcella Akins. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Survivors include his wife, Nell Akins of Altus; son, Tim, six grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Ryan, Nick, Cody and Whitney; two brothers, Richard Akins of Decatur and Dale Akins of Rogers; and four sisters, Sheila Hummel, Maggie Johnson and Molly Akins-Foster from Rogers and Susan Bryan from Bentonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; two grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Akins and Stephen Akins; and one sister, Carolyn Akins. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Garfield, with J.D. Ellison officiating.
