Cecilia C. Linberg

Cecilia C. Linberg, 88, passed away into the gates of heaven on Feb. 11, 2013. She was born July 19, 1924, in Breckenridge, Minn., to John Pelkey and Mary Miller Pelkey. Cecilia grew up in Fargo, N.D., with her six siblings. She met the paperboy John "Jack" Linberg when she was sixteen. On May 16, 1943, they married on base in Grenada, Miss. They were married nearly 69 years when he passed away on May 1, 2012. During the war, she worked as a waitress and at the Hoover Ball Bearing Plant. After the war, the Linbergs moved to various states as Jack worked for the FAA. Cecilia enjoyed working at her kids' schools and she also assisted with the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts. They retired to Lakeview, Ark., in the late 1970s. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, camping and being outdoors. She was a life member of the ladies auxiliary Hovel Barnett VFW in Bull Shoals, Ark. In 2000, Jack and Cecilia moved to Rogers to be closer to their daughter and her family. She is survived by her son, James Linberg (Kathey) and son, Michael; daughter, Kathy Linberg Rodgers (Jay) and children, Sarah, Scott, Skyler and Spencer. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the First Christian Church of Disciples of Christ, 13th and Oak St., Rogers. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care provide by Circle of Life Hospice.
