Robert Lee Mevius

Robert Lee Mevius, age 90, of Jasper, Mo., passed away Jan. 31, 2013, at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, Mo. He was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Dade County, Mo., to Ernest Albert and Ruth May (Pugh) Mevius. He was a farmer and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Robert was a member of the Nashville Christian Church, Jasper V.F.W. Post 6415, and was a former president of the Barton County Farm Bureau. Robert was united in marriage to Ellen Nadine Smith on June 1, 1946, at Greenfield, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Gary Mevius, the state of Colorado; one daughter, Elizabeth Hundley of Bentonville, Ark.; one sister, Lula Remus, the state of Texas; five grandchildren, Jeremy Miller and family, Jessica Miller and family, Natalie Miller, Jason Mevius and family, and Dennis Lankes; four great-grandchildren, Sophia Morey, William Pete Mevius, Robert Maxwell Miller and Jordan Lankes. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Mevius; one brother, Louis Mevius; and one sister, Lorene Zaerr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Jasper Christian Church. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery N.W. of Jasper, Mo. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper, Mo. Memorial contributions can be made to donor's choice.
