Charles W. Cotton

Charles W. Cotton, 91, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Butterfield Trail Village Health Care Center, Fayetteville, Ark. He was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Leslie (Searcy County), Ark., the son of Phelps Lafayette and Virgie Stokes Cotton. He was a Christian of Methodist faith and attended the First United Methodist Church in Springdale, Ark. He currently was a volunteer with their Bread of Life program. Charles was a graduate of the Kansas City School of Dentistry. He moved to Springdale in the mid-1950s and practiced dentistry for the next 30 years. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Cotton; one niece, Nancy Jane Winklesky and husband, Paul, of Oregon City, Ore.; a great-nephew, Gregg Winklesky and wife, Pam, and their two children, Erika Jane and Katrina Kimbrel of Portland, Ore.; one great-niece, Jill MacKenzie and her husband, Brian, and their two children, Conor and Darby of Washougal, Wash. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Springdale, with David C. Freeman, executive pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction Beard's Funeral Chapel, with Ted Doke assisting. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice or to Bread of Life, First United Methodist Church, 206 West Johnson Ave., Springdale, AR 72764.
