Cloe 'Gene' Coker

Cleo "Gene" Coker, 81, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas. He was born on March 31, 1932, in Viola, Mo., to Columbus Coker and Bertha Jones Coker. He was raised and educated in the Branson, Mo., area. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Korean Conflict. Gene married his first wife Dolores Roden. Dolores died about 20 years ago. Gene married Marilyn Cook in 1997. They moved to Bella Vista, Ark., from California in August 2011. He loved outdoor sports and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Coker of Bella Vista, Ark.; one son, Bob Coker (Michelle) of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Ann Banfield of Sacramento, Calif., Sharon Coker of Sacramento, Calif.; five stepdaughters, Dixie, Debby, Dee, Dina, Dawn; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, Ark., with Pastor Darrell Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 5248, Bella Vista, AR 72714.
