Ellen Gene Jamar, 84, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, in Springdale, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph F. Jamar and her husband of 40 years, Freeland Andre Townsley. She was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Bigelow, Ark., to Joseph and Ruie Singleton. She was a graduate of Lonoke High School and attended Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. She was an elementary school teacher in Newport, Ark., and a member of the United Methodist Church and Stephen's Ministries. She lived in Germany, France, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Jersey and Arkansas. She enjoyed antiquing, traveling and her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Steven Andre Townsley and wife Janice Townsley of Morris Township, N.J., Keith Guy Townsley and wife Sydra Townsley of Eustis, Fla., Stuart Wade Townsley and wife Eleanor Townsley of Fayetteville, Ark.; four grandchildren, Dylan, Kyle, Kala and Julia and her sister, Johnnie Bransford and husband, Richard Bransford of Lonoke, Ark. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Berna Funeral Home.
