Barbara R. Rothlisberger

Barbara Ruth Rothlisberger passed away on Dec. 26, 2013, in Fayetteville, Ark. Barbara was born in Washington, Iowa, June 27, 1915. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Rothlisberger, and parents, James and Gertrude Brooks of Washington, Iowa. Barbara received her education in Washington, Iowa, and received a teaching certificate from Northern Iowa Teachers College, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught for several years. She married Alvin Carl Rothlisberger, June 10, 1939, in Washington, Iowa. They made their first home in Wausau, Wis., where Carl was employed as a chemist at Marathon Paper Mills. In 1944, they moved to Bartlesville, Okla., where Carl was a research chemist with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville and Borger, Texas. Barbara was a substitute teacher in the Borger and Bartlesville school systems. She also taught at the Town and Country Preschool for several years. She and her husband retired in Bartlesville and spent their retirement years traveling. Barbara loved her family, sewing, making crossword puzzles and playing in numerous bridge groups. Survivors include one son, C.J. Rothlisberger and his wife, Judy, of Sterling, Va.; two daughters, Carla Deutsch and husband, Phillip, of Stafford, Va., and Nancy Long and husband, Larry, of Fayetteville, Ark. There are six grandchildren, Carol Wishnow, Lori Cross, Alyson Moon, Mallory Storus, Troy and Brady Long; and eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bradshaw, Samantha Wishnow, Rebecca and Ryan Cross, and Skyler, Jayden, Foster and Piper Moon. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave., Bartlesville. Memorial service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a favorite charity in Barbara's memory.
