John Michael "Mike" Davis, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, surrounded by those he held most dear. A native of Fayetteville, Mike was born on Sept. 24, 1941, to Frank William and Martha Lewis Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Frank William "Bill" Davis Jr. Mike is remembered for his creative, spontaneous and generous spirit. His zest for life was contagious. He never met a stranger, making all those who crossed his path feel special and accepted. He had a love for the outdoors and the arts. His creativity and artistic eye was shown through his business of 30 years, Michael Davis Interior Design & Remodeling. He was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam era. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan Munson Davis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Megan and Andrew Evans of Clarksville, Tenn., and Molly and Patrick Westerman of Hot Springs, Ark.; one son, Michael Davis of Fayetteville; and five beloved grandchildren, Martha Grace, Sydney and Jackson Evans; Davis and William Westerman; one brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Darlene Davis of Fayetteville; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to VA Drs. James Cooper and Ragini Sharma, Circle of Life Hospice, Chantal Sumlin, APN and the VA Palliative Care Team, and ALL the nurses and staff of the VA Hospital that have been a part of his care. A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be held at Central United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28. A reception with friends will be held immediately following in Central's Activity Center. Memorials may be designated to Central UMC, PO Box 1106, Fayetteville, AR 72702. The family requests all gifts be designated for Mission Teams.
