Harold Dickens, 93, of Fort Smith, Ark., passed away on the same date as his wife, six years later, on Dec. 18, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was born in Bells, Texas, to the late Autry and Rena Dickens. He graduated from Bells High School in Bells, Texas, and graduated from Draughon's Business College in Fort Smith. He drove a bus for the City during World War II, he was manager of Kress Department Store, supervisor for Colonial Bread for 20 years, distributor for Little Debbie Snack Cakes, Realtor for 21 years where he worked for Kralicek Realty Company and Coldwell Banker Fleming-Lau Realty, Fort Smith home-builder and he worked 15+ years for Harps before retiring at the age of 87. He was a member and former Deacon of West-Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith and he was a member of Cross Church Pinnacle Hills in Rogers, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ona, and a granddaughter, RaDonna Swadlenak. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Roselawn Cemetery with Larry Todd and Trevor Kolb (grandson) officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Kolb and husband, Steve, of Fort Smith, and Carolyn Wright of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Stephanie Kear and husband, Jeff, of Springdale, Trevor Kolb of Springdale, and DeRonda Wallace of Portland, Ore.; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany Kear, Taylor Kear, Tanner Kear, Kandace Minor, Christopher Vessels and Ricky Vessels; three great-great-grandchildren, including Parker and A. J. Minor; and his beloved dog, Hershey. Family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Ashton Place for the care they provided.
