Davis Eugene Tate

Davis Eugene Tate, 90, of Rogers, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. He was born to the late Matthew and Maudine Tate, July 18, 1923, in Arbuckle Island, Ark. He was the seventh of 13 children. Davis was married to the late Shirley Tate and they lived together in Noel, Mo. Davis was a United States Marine Corp Veteran and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He played on a Minor League Baseball team in Bakersfield, Calif., in the 1930s. Davis retired from Sam Tanksley Trucking with over 20 years of service, he was recognized for driving over 3 million miles accident-free. Davis was a Farmer and rode the Rodeo Circuit, during his free time he loved to fish on the Arkansas and Elk River. Davis is survived by five children, David Lee Tate Sr. of Gravette, Ark., Leann Klider of Star City, Ark., Lora Tate of Anderson, Mo., Tammie Tate of Grapevine, Ark., and Mary Leal of Noel, Mo. He also is survived by 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers, Ark.
