Geneva Lee Long, age 84, of Hazel Valley passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2013, in Fayetteville. Geneva is survived by her loving family, son, Michael Don Long of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Donna Lynn Long of Hazel Valley; eight grandchildren, Kelly Long-Blanchard, Matthew Long-Blanchard, Eric Jameson, Justin Carter, Sarah Liming, Ashley Carter, Michael Long Jr., Andrea Montalvo; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lorene Patrick of Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Lila Smith; husband, Gene Long; and daughter, Carol Diane Long-Ulberg. Geneva was born Aug. 4, 1929, to parents, Eldon and Lila Smith. She married Gene Long in 1947. Their 55-year marriage was enriched by three wonderful children, Diane, Michael and Donna. Geneva was a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother. Gene and Geneva lived in the San Francisco Bay area for many years where they raised their family. In 1970, they moved back to Arkansas and settled in Hazel Valley. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1983 and lived her golden years on a family farmstead in Hazel Valley. Geneva and Gene were well known throughout the community for their friendliness and country hospitality. She was a member of the White House Church of Christ and Hazel Valley Church. Geneva will be remembered for her cheerful attitude and warm sense of humor. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her and we will forever hold her close to our hearts. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Moore's Chapel.
