Gladys Ethel (Reed) Jackson Hillery

Gladys Ethel (Reed) Jackson Hillery, age 88, of Rogers, Ark., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in Springdale, Ark., surrounded by her loving family. Gladys was born in Pyron, Texas, to James A. and Ethel (Gilmore) Reed on Nov. 15, 1924. She was athletic all her life, and enjoyed basketball, softball, bowling, hunting and fishing. During her teenage years her family moved to Delight, Ark., where she met the love of her life, Millard Thomas "M.T." Jackson. They were married on Dec. 21, 1942, in Albany, Ore. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Gladys was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) #3098 in Houston, Texas. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church of Fayetteville, Ark. She lived a full and beautiful life sharing joy with everyone she met. Her most cherished pastime was time spent with family. Gladys is preceded in death by her first husband, M.T. Jackson; second husband, Mack Hillery; and siblings, S. Addean Winfrey, Luther M. Reed, James E. Reed and S. Harlan Reed. Gladys is survived by two sons and a daughter, M. Stephen Jackson and his wife, Pat, Keith L. Jackson and his wife, Shelley, D. Renee (Jackson) Carr and her husband, Steve; nine grandchildren, Angela Warren, Jennifer Bartee, Kelly Sams, Stefanie Johnston, Kristy Price, Lacey Hinds, Sarah Huhn, Brandon Baldwin and Jill Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a faithful canine companion, Wrigley Carr. Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ark. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with Bro. James Goff officiating. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Pike City Cemetery in Pike City, Ark., with Bro. Jerry Hill officiating. A reception will be held at the First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, Ark., following the graveside service. Pallbearers will be Mike Reed, Stanley Reed, Tony Price, Mike Huhn, Brandon Baldwin and Robert Evinger.
