Ruth Edwards Stites, 91, of Rogers passed away Aug. 27, 2013, in Rogers. She was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Bentonville, the daughter of James Roy Seamster Sr. and Matilda Edwards Seamster. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Hiwasse and founded and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Rogers. She was involved in the Girl Scouts as a troop leader for many years. Ruth influenced many people by her sweet spirit. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Fredrick Stites; and four brothers and two sisters. Survived by her three daughters, Ruth Ann Stites of Rogers, Mary Ellen Mitchell and husband, Terry, of Jane, Mo., and Sandra Irene Edster and husband, John, of Lowell; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Rogers Cemetery, with Pastor Ben Woody and Pastor Tony Byler officiating. Family and friends viewing will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th St., Rogers. Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to Circle of Life Hospice.
