Robert Lee Sarratt

Robert Lee Sarratt, 80, of Springdale passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, where he was designated a candidate to receive a lung transplant. Due to complications unrelated to the transplant, he succumbed to the Heavenly Father in peace and with open arms. He was born April 6, 1933, in Coweta, Okla., to Ollie Lee Sarratt and Oscar A. Sarratt. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Knox, Ky. He was trained in the Armored School of the U.S. Army to service tankers. Lee's career included barbering, construction and returning to barbering at the local Don and John Barber Shop until January 2013. He also owned and operated G&P Office Furniture Company in LaPorte, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Gaylene Sarratt; and two daughters, Debra Lee Sarratt Ransweiler and Lisa Gay Sarratt Wade; two grandchildren, Brittni Paige Ransweiler Gunn and husband, Matthew Gunn, and Derik Lee Ransweiler and fiancee, Candra Nicole Ray; two sisters, Bethal Logan of Tulsa, Okla., and Doris Hammons of Burnett, Texas. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale with Paul Woodhouse officiating under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
