Mary Sue Reagan

Mary Sue Reagan, 93, of Rogers, died Aug. 21, 2013, at her home. She was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Rogers to Zenas Lytton Reagan and Agnes Dean Shelton Reagan. She was an active member of Christ's Church in Rogers and was a student of the Rogers Public Schools. After graduating high school in Rogers, she attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she received a bachelor's degree. She then completed her master's degree at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She taught school in the Rogers School District for 47 years and was a large influence on many students. In 1989, Reagan Elementary School in Rogers was named after her. She supported several state and local organizations including the Benton County Sunshine School, the Benton County Single Parent Scholarship Fund and Open Avenues (formerly known as the Adult Development Center). She received the Benton County Bar Association's Liberty Bell award for outstanding teaching of American History and Government and has been honored as Teacher of the Year in Rogers. She was inducted into the Rogers Chamber of Commerce Educator's Hall of Fame in 1995. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, Rogers PanHellenic Organization, Democrat Women's Club, the Arkansas History Association and Washington County Historical Society. She was also a Friend of the Rogers Public Library and the Rogers Historical Museum. She was predeceased in death by both of her parents and a sister, Betty Lynn Reagan, who passed away in September of 2005. Survivors include one sister, Agnes Lytton Reagan, of Rogers. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fayetteville with the Rev. Shawn Wallace officiating. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the Rogers Public Education Foundation in Ms. Reagan's memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers.
