Billie Jean Short

Billie Jean Blackwell Brink Short, age 86, a longtime resident of Lowell, died July 30, 2013, at Jamestown Nursing & Rehabilitation in Rogers. She was born in Amarillo, Texas, on Feb. 15, 1927. She and her husband, Otto Brink, owned Brink's Jewelry Store in downtown Rogers for 26 years until it closed in 1978. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Cave Springs. Survivors include her daughter, Sally Johnson and husband, John, of Lowell; grandchildren, Trisha DuCote, Tina Johnson-Flippo, Steven West, Ashley Phillips; son-in-law, Richard West of Rogers; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Bessie (Riddle) Blackwell; first husband, Otto Brink; second husband, Robert Short; a daughter, Patsy West; five sisters and one brother. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, with services beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Burial will follow in Benton County Memorial Park.
