Bertena Jo Galyean Freeman, 81, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Jamestown Health and Rehab in Rogers. She was born July 5, 1931, in Hiwasse, Ark., to Victor Lewis Hendrickson and Pauline Banks Hendrickson. Bertena was a loving mother who was dedicated to her family and church. She graduated from Draughon Business College in Tulsa, Okla. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Rogers for many years. She was always dearly loved by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed the tremendous love of the entire family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Freeman; one brother, Victor Byron (Pude) Hendrickson; and sister-in-law, Claudine Thomas. Bertena is survived by two sons, Jody Galyean of Marietta, Okla., Gil Galyean and wife, Becky, of Purcell, Okla.; five grandchildren, Beau Galyean and wife, Ashley, Wesley Galyean and wife, Kristen, Christina Cox and husband, Lloyd, Garrett Galyean, Brody Galyean; three great-grandchildren, Leighton Cox, Daxton Galyean, Gracelyn Galyean; special niece, Terry Pruitt and husband, David, of Hiwasse, Ark.; and brother-in-law, Jerry Thomas; and extended family. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Rogers, 3364 W. Pleasant Grove Road, with Dr. Wes George officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
