Shirley Ann Alexander

Shirley Ann Alexander, 81, of Bella Vista passed away peacefully Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Jamestown Nursing Home in Rogers, Ark. Shirley was born on March 3, 1932, in Blackwell, Okla., to James Ray Tetirick and Marquita Tetirick. She graduated early at age 15 from high school in Blackwell, Okla. She attended the Ponca City Business College where she graduated at 17. Shell Oil was her next stop for three years in Perry, Okla. The company transferred to Tulsa, Okla., where Shirley moved. There she met and married her husband, Don Alexander in 1953. Five years later their son, Mark Alexander was born. Eventually moving to California, Shirley worked for the Navy at the Missile Engineering Station in Port Hueneme, Calif., where she retired after 30 years as the highest ranked woman on the base at that time. In retirement, Shirley and Don moved to Arkansas where they settled in Bella Vista. Shirley made friends everywhere she went, and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Don Alexander of Bella Vista; son, Mark Alan Alexander and wife, Lisa of Simi Valley, Calif.; daughter, Ida Lou Lackey of Fontana, Calif.; two brothers, Terry Tetirick of Torrance, Calif., and Ray Tetirick of Canon, Colo. Shirley also leaves behind two grandchildren, Dylan Alexander, 17, and Logan Alexander, 16. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
