Otto H. Sell

Otto H. Sell, 86, formerly of Elmhurst, Ill., and Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Carol Stream, Ill. Born April 9, 1926, in Chicago, he was the son of Henry and Emma (Pahl). A Naval veteran of WWII, Otto worked for Coca Cola Bottling of Chicago for 33 years before retiring to Arkansas in 1981. He then went to work for Wal-Mart L/P-D/W #4 for 10 years. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include sons, William, Martin (Rebecka) and Arthur; daughter, Sandra (Pete) Kowalski; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Yoland (Wastier); son, Steven; sister, Gaza Brunst; and brother, Richard. A memorial service was held Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Christ United Methodist, Elmhurst, Ill. A private inurnment was at Mount Hope Cemetery of Marinette Park, Ill. Arrangements and cremation handled by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory in Bartlett, Ill. While living in Garfield/Rogers, Ark., area, Otto was an active member of the community. He was a volunteer fireman for NEBCO in Garfield. He was an active member of Brightwater U.M.C., which included servicing the communities through church out-reach missions, Habitat for Humanity, Highway 62 Adoption program, charter member of Benton County Senior Center and Benton County Board of Elections member. He was also a regular patron at Marion's Daylight Donuts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, at Brightwater Memorial United Methodist Church, 14108 E. Highway 62, Rogers, Ark., at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or Benton County Senior Center and National Alzheimer's Association.
