Edna Faye Center, age 79, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Cedar Hill, Texas. Edna was born Aug. 17, 1933, in Winslow, Ark., to Adam Reed and Mae Luper Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Reed; and her grandson, Dain Houts. She is survived by her husband, James O. Center; two daughters, Terry Gass and her husband, Ed of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Susan Lugo and her husband, Jose of El Camino Village, Calif.; one son, Ken Center of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Randall Reed of Mountainburg, Ark.; Alan Reed of Winslow, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Edna lived for many years in Torrance, Calif., where she raised her children and half the neighborhood kids too. Family was always the most important thing to her. She loved to cook big meals and have everyone together. In 1982, prompted by the desire to assist her aging parents, she returned home to Winslow, where she intended to live out the rest of her life. Long after her children were raised and her parents were put to rest, Edna intended to spend her last years foot-loose and fancy-free traveling the globe, but instead, found her ‘happily ever after' with the love of her life, Mr. James Center of Cedar Hill, Texas. Edna lived large and loved fiercely and in doing so she created a lineage of strong, independent, kids and grandkids with a deep appreciation for family. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the First Assembly of God Church in Winslow and burial will be in Parks Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. To place an online tribute visit www.mooresfuneralchapel.com.
