Margaret 'Peg' Kasper

With the wind at her back and the sunshine on her face, Margaret "Peg" Kasper has walked the risen road to Heaven and now resides in the palm of God's hand. Born in 1919 in Ceresco, Neb., Peg grew up in Davey, where she was an enthusiastic softball player, played catcher and even managed her team. Following graduation from the Lincoln School of Commerce, Peg worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., and for Montgomery-Ward in Baltimore, Md. She married Walt Nelson in February 1941, moved to Omaha and had two children, Bob and Bonnie. Peg worked for Northern Natural Gas in Omaha for 30 years. Following Walt's death in 1964, Peg met and married Bob Kasper in 1972. After her retirement, Peg and Bob moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they embraced her passion for playing cards, golfing (Peg even had a hole-in-one!) and traveling. She spent many hours gardening, growing flowers and enticing hummingbirds to visit! Peg was a lifelong Husker fan. Peg was very active in her church, including working in a variety of ministries. She was an outstanding cook, and loved to entertain her friends and family at home. Preceded in death by her parents, Earle and Alice Downing; husbands, Walt Nelson (1964) and Bob Kasper (2011); and sister, Mary Bosak. Peg is survived by her son, Bob (Peg) Nelson; and daughter, Bonnie Nelson; stepchildren, Diane Gratinopolis, Pat (Curt) Kriefels, Gary Kasper and Katie (Brian) Helzer; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial mass 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1 St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, AR 72715. Her family will receive guests one hour prior to the mass.
