Charles Claud Carpenter

Charles Claud Carpenter, 77, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Horton Creek, Ark., to Charlie and Golda Reynolds Carpenter. Charles was an orchardist and a farmer. He was a member of Westside Freewill Baptist Church in Springdale where he was a deacon. He was very active in assisting with different projects in the church. He always found a way to make everyone laugh. He liked hunting and fishing. He enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 43 years, Betty Rosalie Carpenter; second wife, Dorothy Carpenter; one sister, Vernice Tisdale; and one great-grandson, Chase Henry. Survivors include his children, Betty Billingsley, Kay Gage, Charles Carpenter and Rita Cheatham; his brothers and sisters, Larry Carpenter, Shirley Miller and Verna Bennett; five grandchildren, Steve Moore, Renae Henry, Wendy Phillips, Debra Dill and Nathan Cheatham; 15 great-grandchildren, Gavin Moore, Mia Moore, Grayson Moore, Corey Henry, Kelsey Henry, Cara Gage, Cadan Henry, Karen Dill, Shelby Dill, Samantha Dill, James Dill, Zamera Dill, Johnathan Cheatham, Zady Cheatham and Mackenzie Phillips; three stepchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Westside Freewill Baptist Church in Springdale with the Rev. Paul Payne officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery.
