Joan Lucille Trabue Miller, 84, passed away in Springdale on March 28, 2013, surrounded by her daughters. She was born June 12, 1928, into a close, loving family, the third child of John Wesley and Olive Inez (Vernon) Trabue in Napanee, Ind. She grew up in Tipton, Ind., and her family moved to Dearborn, Mich., in her teens. She attended Michigan Normal College in Ypsilanti, studying to be an art teacher. While there, she married Donald M. Grant in 1949. They had four children and lived in Michigan, Ohio and California. In 1972, she married the Rev. Donald L. Miller Sr. in West Hills, Calif., and his two sons joined the family. They were married for 42 years. They moved to Rogers, Ark., in 1977 and that remained their home. Joan was a kind, gracious woman who was devoted to her husband and family. People were drawn to her charm, her big blue eyes, her delightful sense of humor and her warm smile. She loved to draw and sketch, paint, play the piano, read biographies or faith-related books, flowers, classic old movies and Broadway musicals, restaurants, and traveled to Mexico and Germany. Mostly she loved people. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, having get-togethers or going on fishing trips. Joan personified unconditional love and treated everyone she met like family. She saw beauty everywhere and her optimistic spirit saw the silver lining in every cloud. She was fun-loving and took joy in every day. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don; daughters, Donna Ludlow, Barbara Grant Van Laar and Mary Grant-Young; brother, John Trabue; sisters-in law, Diane Young and Sheri Kerr; brother-in-law, Wayne Miller; grandchildren, Julie Wahl, Andrew Young, Elisa Young and Emilie Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, John Grant, Donald L. Miller Jr. and Daniel Miller; sister, Nina Pascoe; brother, George Trabue. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 3 p.m. in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, 1401 W. Hudson Road, Rogers, AR 72756.
