Gary R. Chappell

Gary R. Chappell, 68, of Springdale passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born June 18, 1944, in Sulphur City, Ark., the son of Cecil Rolland Chappell and Minnie "Jackie" Stout Chappell. He was a graduate of University High School at U of A and a member of the Fayetteville/Springdale Elks Lodge. He received many awards from Chevrolet over the years; won a trip around the world in 1973 for being the top sales manager in his zone. Gary loved life and did it his way. He was an avid sports fan, who also enjoyed fishing with his dog, Remy, spending time with family and friends and enjoyed teasing everyone. We will miss his quick wit and ability to make everyone laugh. Survivors include his wife, Linda Chappell of the home; daughters, Belinda Mayo and husband, Russell of Springdale, Mandy Leach of Springdale; sons, Tracy Floyd and wife, Brenda of Berryville, Luke Floyd and wife, Becky of Berryville; and 11 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, 4520 N. Crossover Road, Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family requests that memorials in his name be made to Fayetteville Springdale Elks Lodge Christmas Fund.
