Mildred Alvina Duffy, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice-Legacy in Bentonville. She was born on May 23, 1923, in Millsboro, S.D., to Edward Ring and Mary Giske Ring. She graduated from Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., and received her master's degree from the University of Minnesota, Mankato. She taught at the college level for over 21 years. She was considered by her students as fair — firm and friendly. Mildred married Daniel Duffy on Jan. 14, 1945, in Washington, D.C. She was selected for Who's Who in Nebraska, 1976-1977. After retiring they moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1983. She enjoyed cooking at home with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Esther Bigelow. She is survived by her husband, Dan Duffy of Bella Vista, Ark.; three sons, Dan E. Duffy (Susan) of Mankato, Minn., James R. Duffy (Patricia) of Eureka Springs, Ark., Gregory D. Duffy (Nancy) of Mankato, Minn.; one daughter, Charlene Hartwell (Lee) of Apple Valley, Minn.; one brother, Edwin Ring (Violet) of Gregory, S.D.; two sisters, Dorothy Lewis of Winner, S.D., Leona Lane (Paul) of Kearney, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Faith Lutheran Church, N.W. 12th St., Bentonville, Ark.
