Phyllis O. Barrows

Phyllis O. Barrows, 95, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 18, 2012. She was born in Grand Island, Neb., on Sept. 29, 1917, and grew up in Nebraska and California. She worked as an electrical engineer during World War II. She spent most of her working career assisting her husbands in developing various corporations from a retail fabric operation to a plumbing wholesaler. Prior to her marriages, she was a model in Los Angeles and was featured in various fashion shows, magazines and billboards. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Carrie Homan; and by her two husbands, Marion Hubert Westbrook and Charles Herbert Barrows. An avid golfer and bridge player, she retired in Bella Vista. She became a vibrant member of Village Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista. Memorials may be made to the church, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
