Mary B. Cannon, 87, of Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2012, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born March 26, 1925, in the Trace Branch area near West Fork, the daughter of Paul and Lela Swonger. She attended school at Trace Branch and West Fork. She married Jack Cannon on Dec. 1, 1961, in Tulsa, Okla. The couple lived most of their married life in Tulsa, where she worked for many years in the book binding industry. She retired from Tefco Printing in Tulsa in 1988. They moved to the Fayetteville area in November 1991 and then to the Nantucket Retirement Center in Fayetteville in April 2009. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Fayetteville. Mary loved to read her Bible and do embroidery. She created several handmade quilts, dresser scarves, etc. after her retirement, most of which she gave away to friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Dovie Chambers of Tulsa, Loyd Swonger and Arvil Swonger of West Fork, Mildred Camp of Stilwell, Okla., and Emma Dowell of Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, Jack Cannon of the home; one sister, Joy Stutts of West Fork; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today, March 30, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tim Smith and Chaplain Roger Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in the Mineral Springs Cemetery near West Fork under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary's name to the First Assembly of God Church, 550 E. 15th St., Fayetteville, AR 72701 (479-442-5653).
