Elmer L. Howard

Elmer L. Howard passed away on March 25, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born in Japton, Ark., on Feb. 25, 1925, to Arnold and Winnie Corbitt-Howard. He was married to Rowie Barker-Howard on Dec. 22, 1947, in Washington County and then moved to Southern California in 1953. He was a member of local 582 in California until he retired and moved back to Arkansas in 1991. He was an avid coon hunter all of his life and listened to coon races even after he was unable to continue hunting himself. He enjoyed eating out and taking drives in the country. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rowie Howard; daughter, Charlotte Sue Howard; and three brothers, David, Larry and Bill Howard. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Pettersen of Folsome, Calif.; grandson, Terry Howard and wife, Melva, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Tracy Hornback and husband, Ricky Jr., of Lincoln, LeAnna Beeman and husband, Danny, of Folsom, Calif., Kenny Petterson of Rio Linda, Calif., Tony Vrolijk of Thrall, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, Chanda Patrick, Ryker, Zoie Hornback, Breana Hornback, Kendan Beeman, Keithan Beeman, Kaivan Beeman, Lauren Revell, Daymein Vrolijk, Layce Uhl and Cristen Uhl; five great-great-grandchildren, Michael Law, Nicholas Law, Hailey Stout, Layten Vice and Derek Law. Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, with T..J. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Drakes Creek Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
