Bessie Maxine Rowbotham, daughter of the late Ben. F. and Mary Susan "Mollie" Tate Harmon was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Holland, Ark., and departed this life at Maples at Har-Ber Meadows in Springdale, Arkansas on March 21, 2012, at the age of 90. Formerly of Lamar, she was a member of Lamar Baptist Church, a homemaker, worked at the poultry processing plant where she retired, worked as craft director at the Senior Citizen Center in Clarksville, Ark., quilted, winning blue ribbons on items entered in the Johnson County Fair, received her GED in 1984 at the age of 63, and was a member of the board of Area Agency on Aging. She was united in marriage to Ben Harold Rowbotham April 2, 1938, in Lamar, Arkansas. Survivors include two daughters: Barbara (J. Keith) Hale, Springdale, Ark., and Mary (Johnny) Schuh, Clarksville, Ark.; grandchildren: Valerie (Philip) Harp, and Mark (Beth) Houston, both of Springdale, Ark., Charles (Karyn) Houston, Columbia, Ill., Paula Schuh Talley, and John (Patti) Schuh, both of Clarksville, Ark.; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; three brothers: Roy, Marvin, and Arvil Harmon; and one sister: Dona Harmon Long. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Amos Pledger. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Mark Houston, Charles Houston, John Schuh VII, Donnie Grigsby, Josh Sisk, Philip Harp, Philip Harp III and Chad Harp. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters: Valerie Harp and Paula Schuh Talley. Burial will be in Lamar Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
