Carl Dial Huson

Carl Dial Huson, age 88, of Heber Springs, Ark., passed away at his home on Sunday, March 18, 2012. Born in Heber Springs on Oct. 4, 1923, he was the son of the late O.F. Huson and Ethel Dial Huson. Mr. Huson began his work with the Heber Springs Post Office as a mail clerk, becoming a city mail carrier, and retired as a rural mail carrier. After his retirement, he became a licensed funeral director and was employed by Olmstead Funeral Home. Being a lifetime resident of Heber Springs, working with the public, and his easygoing personality helped put C.D. on a first-name basis with many who lived in Cleburne County. He could be counted on to provide interesting stories from his memories of life in Heber Springs. Mr. Huson served our country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs. Family members who preceded him in death include his parents; his wife, Luella Newton Huson; and one daughter, Carla Huson. Mr. Huson is survived by two sons, Harry Huson of Irving, Texas, and Jim Huson of Fayetteville; his beloved companion, Mary Davalos of Heber Springs; four grandchildren, Carolyn Huson, Susie Bryant, Nelson Huson, and Matthew Huson; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Huson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 20, at Olmstead Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be held today, March 21, at 11 a.m. at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens, with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Heber Springs. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home; www.olmstead.cc.
