O.K. "Jack" Hazlewood, 68, of Little Rock, Arkansas, beloved husband, father, grandfather "PawPaw," brother, and friend went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the middle of nine children born in Houston, Texas, to the late Wallace L. and Mary Alice Hazlewood. Fifty years ago, Jack came to know the Lord and surrendered to preach shortly thereafter. Jack was ordained in April of 1965 for full-time ministry. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. In 1967, Jack began preaching in crusades and revivals all across America. In 1981, he began ministering overseas in Asia, working primarily in South Korea, Indonesia, and China. Twenty years ago, he began ministering in Russia. In the last few years, he spent his time overseas training and equipping pastors and church leaders. Jack's favorite verse for ministry was, Proverbs 29:18, "Where there is no vision the people perish." Jack received Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Ouachita Baptist University for twelve years. Jack has been an active member of Little Rock's First Baptist Church since 1967. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue; daughter, Rhonda Mitchell (Jeff) of Seattle, Washington; son Keith (Dawn) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Nicholas, Caleb and Sara Kaitlyn Mitchell of Seattle, Washington; granddaughters, Sydney and Kyndal of Little Rock; brother, Victor Ray (Shirley) Hazlewood; and sister, Kay Burns of Houston, Texas; brother, Joe (Sally) Davis of the Philippines; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and close friends. Pallbearers are grandsons: Taylor, Joshua, Nicholas, and Caleb Mitchell of Seattle, Marty Sikes of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Jonathan Curtis of Bryant, Arkansas. Honorary pallbearers are Remo Jacuzzi, Pat Malmstrom, Carl Rosenbaum, and Danny White of Little Rock, Randal Caldwell of Wynne, Arkansas, Skeet May of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Aaron Meyers of Statham, Georgia, and Steve Traylor of Monroe, Georgia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501) 224-8300. A celebration of his life will be at Little Rock's First Baptist Church at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Arkansas.
