Carey Wayne Meadors, 64, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence. He was a self-employed building contractor, a graduate of University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a B.A. in history, and member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a lifetime member of the Arkansas Historical Association and had a deep love for his native state of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Meadors Jr. The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Carey is survived by: his mother, Gwen Ballentine of Fayetteville; one daughter, Wen Tate and her husband, Jim, of Hickory, N.C.; one son, Brian Meadors and his wife, Mandy, of Fort Smith; three sisters, Dr. Caran Stouffer, Dr. Carol "BooBoo" Warner and Claudia Carangi, all of Florida; and five grandchildren, James, Donovan, and Carlton Tate and Gus and Tabitha Meadors. Family will visit with relatives and friends Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
