Clyde Derrick 'Derry' Wallis

Clyde Derrick "Derry" Wallis, 60 years, left this earthly life for eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was born Dec. 6, 1951, to the late Clyde Wallis and Wanda Boone in Buford, Ga. He was a member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Pilgrim's Pride management in 2009. He grew up in Springdale and graduated from Springdale High School in 1970. He attended the University of Arkansas where he studied music. Derry loved music, especially his favorite artist The Rolling Stones. He loved fishing and enthusiastically supported his favorite teams, the Oakland Raiders and Arkansas Razorbacks. Derry is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shari Burton Wallis; son Drew Wallis; stepdaughter Carman Moss; grandson, Zaire Johnson; uncle, Sanford (Juanita) Boone; cousins, Sandye Graham and Koni Power; goddaughter, Jasmine Smith; god-grandchildren Joe'Maya Casey, Quemarian Smith and Semaj Blanding; other family and his many friends. His presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held in Paducah, Ky., on Feb. 25. A Celebration of His Life will be held in Johnson, Ark., at the residence of his best friend, Chuck Tripp, on March 4, 2012, at 2 p.m. Please call for directions 479-263-0278.
