Sally Fayles

Our mother, Sally Fayles, passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2012; she was 97 years of age. She was born and raised on an Iowa farm. At 17 she and her older sister ventured out to Los Angeles to start a new life, which at that time was certainly a far cry from the life of corn, chickens, pigs and cows. She entered stenography school at night, graduated and went to work for the most prominent ear, nose and throat specialists in Hollywood. She often laughed that after every visit, Gary Cooper would send her a dozen yellow roses. She met and married our father, Dan, after World War II and eventually settled in Palos Verdes Estates raising two sons, Don and Mike. She sold real estate for a number of years and enjoyed gardening. Sally and Dan eventually moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1972, and those years were the happiest of their marriage. She was preceded in death by our father, Dan, in 1998. Sally will most certainly be missed and was loved by all of her family and friends. We will all treasure her memory of love, devotion, caring and guidance. Along with her two sons and their wives, she is survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She epitomized the expression — a lady. At her request there will be no service. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
