Young David McClure

Young D. (David) McClure, died Dec. 14, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born in Cushing, Okla., on Feb. 14, 1925, to the late Tipp and Letha Abercrombie. He was the husband of Sally (Sarah) McClure whom he married 47 years ago in Sherman, N.Y. He graduated from Carmen, Okla., High School as valedictorian of his class in 1943. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Mine Division at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. He lived in Washington for a time, before moving to Sherman, N.Y., where he was with the Shiloh Christian Church and worked as head baker for the Shiloh Farm Natural Food Bakery, both in New York and Arkansas. He was a member of the American Legion and served a term on his local city council. He was a proud Dad and Grandpa and an avid sports fan. Mr. McClure was a devout Christian and after moving to Fayetteville, attended Calvary Baptist Church and St. Joseph Church for a time. He is survived by his wife of Fayetteville; two sons, Michael (Stacey) and children, Bailey, Tatum and Taggart McClure of Rogers and David (Jennifer) and children, Katie and Will McClure of Fayetteville. Mr. McClure is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and one sister. A graveside memorial service will be Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at 2 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gravette, Ark.
