Opal Viola Parrish

Opal Viola Parrish, 91, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in Fayetteville. She was born March 24, 1921, in Brentwood, Ark., the daughter of Thomas and Lillie Hutchens Jamerson. She was a member of the Greenland Church of Christ. Attended a one room school house at Black Oak, Ark., and worked as a cook for the Greenland School System. Preceded in death by both parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, O.D. Parrish of Fayetteville; three daughters and three sons, Norma Posey and husband, Dave of Fayetteville, Garry Parrish and wife, Janet of Eads, Tenn., Gerald Parrish and wife, Brenda of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Charles Parrish and wife, Nancy of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Nadine Huddleston and husband, Mike of Fayetteville and Nedra Crider and husband, Mike of Smithfield, Va.; one sister, Geneva Doss of Winslow; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Beard's Funeral Chapel with Mr. Bobby Dockery officiating. Burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery. Visitation was 1 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
