Lewis & Clark Outfitters, the Springdale outdoor equipment store and bike shop near Lake Fayetteville, has closed after more than 20 years in business.
A sign posted on the door states, “Thank you for the opportunity to serve the last 23 years,” and ends with “Please stand by for more announcements.” Customers with bicycles in the store for service were to be contacted to arrange for pickup last week.
The store at 4915 S. Thompson St. was Lewis & Clark’s landmark location, but another near the Pinnacle Hills area in Rogers closed in March 2022. There had also been a Little Rock location at one time.
The store’s Facebook page had 22,000 likes and 23,000 followers.
Rob Potts, a co-owner of the family-run business, posted a lengthy note Sunday on his personal Face-book page detailing many of the challenges the family had experienced over the years in keeping the store going, and expressing thanks to their employees, customers and friends, and to his wife, Cara, and their two children.
The building that housed the store is owned by Trailhead Property Holdings LLC, whose registered agent is Jon Allen.
