The school resource officer at Central was notified around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday that a student might have a pistol in their backpack, according to a Springdale Police Department news release on Wednesday.

The officer and school administrators “immediately made contact with the student,” according to the release. “A pistol was located in the student’s backpack. There were no threats made by the student towards the school or any students.”
