Work travel can throw a wrench into a regular physical activity program.

I am currently writing from a hotel room in Monterey, Calif. (not that I'm complaining). I'm attending a conference this week. So, I thought it would make sense to chronicle my own challenges and how I've worked to overcome them. I'll also introduce a great exercise for all the road warriors out there.

When I booked this hotel, I knew there wasn't a fitness center on-site. In some cities, that would be a deal-breaker. But Monterey is one of the most beautiful Northern California communities. Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hills and Spanish Bay golf courses are all a short 10-minute drive from where I sit, so there's no shortage of outdoor pursuits.
