Fort Smith police arrest man, 18, and juvenile after Friday morning shooting

FORT SMITH -- Police arrested two people after a shooting Friday morning led to one man being injured and taken to a hospital.

Aric Mitchell, Fort Smith police spokesman, wrote in a news release that police were sent to the report of a shooting in the 3400 block of Duke Avenue at 8:50 a.m. Friday. 

According to the news release, police found one male victim, Caleb France, 18, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The release states that the investigation revealed France and a 17-year-old juvenile had allegedly committed an aggravated robbery when the injury occurred.

France fled the hospital Friday night but was quickly apprehended, the release states.

The juvenile was arrested along with France for the aggravated robbery, according to the release.

Mitchell said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public..

The investigation remains ongoing, and more information will be released when available and appropriate.
