Lowell woman killed, passenger injured on Interstate 49 while riding motorcycle

ROGERS -- One woman was killed and another injured over the weekend when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a minivan on Interstate 49, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle was southbound on I-49 in the right lane near mile marker 81 at about 4:50 p.m. Saturday. That's when a 2013 Honda Odyssey traveling just behind the motorcycle collided with the rear of the motorcycle, according to the report.

Valerie Pryor, the motorcycle driver, and Shelly Pryor, the passenger, were thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadside, the report states.

Valerie Pryor, 51, of Lowell died as a result of her injuries; Shelly Pryor, 45, of Lowell was injured, according to the report.

A juvenile who was a passenger in the Odyssey also was injured, the report states.

The two injured were transported to Mercy Hospital in Rogers.

It was raining at the time of the incident, according to the report.
