DIA DE LOS MUERTOS PROCESSION Marchers take part Saturday Nov. 6 2021 in the Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, Cartinas Processional through downtown Springdale during the Dia de los Muertos celebration. Day of the Dead is a religious holiday in many Latin American countries that is also observed in the United States, including festivities at Shiloh Square in Springdale. Dia de los Muertos is a time to remember and honor loved ones who have died. Activities on Saturday included the Catrinas Processional, a bicycle ride hosted by Arkansas Latinas En Bici and performances by dance troupes and mariachi bands. Dia de los Muertos is usually celebrated the first part of November to coincide with the Catholic holy days of All Saints Day' and All Souls' Day. Dia de los Muertos is a national holiday in Mexico similar to Memorial Day in the United States. Mexico citizens visit the graves of loved ones on the holiday. Several music and dancing groups performed at teh event. Vendors sold good with a Mexican theme and served an arry of Mexican dishes.
